Synchronous teaching formats
Are you wondering how you can stream a lecture (or seminar or consultation hour) online? Would you like to teach, discuss or debate live online?
Here we give you an overview of your current options. In synchronous online teaching, teaching and learning take place collaboratively and simultaneously, for example in a live stream or in a live chat. You can find out how you can design an e-lecture and what you need to bear in mind in this pdf document by Dr. Anja Hawlitschek.
Prerequisite: Synchronous online formats require a good Internet connection and well-scaled software systems.
- The DFNconf portal offers several options for holding conferences or meetings: Firstly, AdobeConnect (DFN) enables audio/video conferences, online meetings or individual sessions to work and communicate synchronously. The communication platform Pexip is one of the second solutions for implementing video and telephone conferences within DFNconf.
- Zoom Video Communications offers remote conferencing services that combine video conferencing, online meetings, chat and mobile collaboration. The OVGU has agreed a university-wide subscription with the Deutsche Teloekom to use the Zoom X Education product. More about Zoom X.

- In addition to the teaching pools and public laboratories, the University Computer Center offers members and affiliates of Otto von Guericke University the opportunity to use a video conference room.
- Our media center is at your disposal for support with lecture recordings and educational film productions. A limited number of seminars and workshops are also offered here, providing practical basic knowledge on media didactics, media conception and implementation.
